Jamie DeCurry

Jamie DeCurry is a character and gunslinger in Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series. He was a primary member of Roland Deschain’s ka-tet in his younger years and was a friend of Alain Johns and Cuthbert Allgood. It’s mentioned in Wolves of the Calla that his preferred weapon was the bow.

Not much is known about Jamie DeCurry. Issue #1 of the Gunslinger Born indicates that Jamie trained with Roland under Cort. He also joined the ka-tet in their search for the Dark Tower afterwards. The Dark Tower: The Fall of Gilead, reveals that Jamie’s father was the main doctor in Gilead who administered to wounded gunslingers.

Jamie appeared in the first issue of the Gunslinger comics. He is referred to as “Jamie DeCurry of the marked face”, and is shown with an amorphous red birthmark on his left cheek. The rest of his features are disguised by the wide-brimmed hat that he wears.

At various points in the Dark Tower series it is indicated that Jamie was killed in the battle of Jericho Hill, shot by a sniper. Roland often dreams of his death, as well as the deaths of the other members of their ka-tet. In the final issue of The Battle of Jericho Hill it is shown he is shot in the head while pushing Roland out of the sights of one of Farson’s snipers.
